Rumors: 06.2009What's new around Porter |
13.6.09May 25th, 2004 Dear Diary, "Someone will pull over and help us," is what my 19 year-old office intern said when I realized I had taken the wrong way on the 710 split in Long Beach on my way to Long Beach Pride. Dear Diary, That was my first and last experience DJing the Pride Festival. I had agreed to DJ the “Substance Free Zone” tent, which is a lifestyle I can respect and appreciate. The idea of providing that type of atmosphere seemed so do-gooder that I had agreed to be a part of it pro-bono. That’s a lie. Probably closer to the truth was that I had nothing better to do. In theory it was an awesome idea….Except for one, glaring oversight: What makes The Gay Pride Festival fun is that it’s an alcohol-fueled leather popper-fest sponsored in part by shirtless men wearing pink tights or assless chaps handing out cocaine and running around like complete drunken maniacs down Doheny. (That is another [true] story.) Happy Pride weekend, Los Angeles. UPDATES FROM ShadeRADIO! Thank you SO much for joining us for Shade: Lost on the beach! We’re sorry we took so long getting the video and pics out but we think you’ll agree it was worth the wait! View our latest video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KSGlqxlHuM&feature=channel_page View pics from the event here: http://picasaweb.google.com/dacialambphotography/ShadeLost# And if you’re on Facebook, do join our Shade page and meet our friends: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=47152822319&ref=ts We’re also pleased to announce that Porter’s June chart is now LIVE on ShadeRADIO at www.shadeparties.com! If you want to listen to some of the tasty beats on heavy rotation with PT, head over there and check it out. It’s great for listening at work. We’re sorry that took a minute but we had to find a chart service that wouldn’t force you to login or download. Because we care. However, if you want to BUY any of the tracks you hear, there’s a convenient button to send you to Amazon for purchase. Pretty freakin’ sweet. ß click. Also, we’re pleased to announce the date of our next Shade event: JULY 19th, in honor of Shade’s own Guatemalan princess Faith D’Marco we bring you: SHADE: CALIENTE!!!!!!! That’s right, don your ...whatever makes you hot (or Guatemalan?)…. and get ready to party with us in Woodley Park. We suggest: sexy bootie shorts and heels for the girls and speedos for the dudes. (Yeah, I said it!) We’ll be announcing the lineup soon, but this IS a birthday celebration for one hot Latin mamma, so you are obligated by ancient Mayan tradition to attend. Don’t fuck with Central America, yo. Also, I’m working on a huge slip and slide. Anyone with any idea how to get water out to the park, hit me up at porter@portertinsley.com. Also, speaking of things HOT, HEAT is boiling over as PT and Maven are cooking up some DELICIOUS treats for you. We can’t say anything in any official capacity yet but we CAN say that for July they are bringing out one of house music’s most legendary soulful house artists from Detroit. More details on that and a scrumptious, filthy and HOOJ upcoming August event featuring one of Chicago’s most well-known house producers and DJs. More soon from HEAT, but in the meantime, get your beat fix at www.shadeparties.com! Love and other indoor sports,
